Insulation of houses with foam concrete

Thermal insulation of walls and floor constructions with foam concrete

We suggest you consider the possibility of insulating your house with heat-insulating foam concrete. The technology is widely used in the Russian Federation, and the choice in favor of foam concrete is due to serious arguments. It should start with the cost of heat-insulating materials and their installation, and in that matter, foam concrete wins by a serious margin. Fire resistance, durability, environmental friendliness, and vapor permeability are also advantages in favor of foam concrete.

Ask a specialist for a consultation on the economic feasibility of wall insulation with foam concrete

Request consultation from specialist about economic justification of insulation of walls with foam concrete.

Let’s try to expand the topic in a way that is understandable to everyone: economic feasibility in choosing a solution. When building a home, sooner or later you will have to solve the issue of building insulation. Regardless of your choice of material, you won’t avoid costs on its purchase and installation, as well as the final finishing works, which provide for the protection of heat-insulating material from the influence of external factors (sun, rain, condensate due to changes in air humidity or temperature fluctuations). And here the properties of foam concrete should be mentioned, which, being an excellent heat-insulating material, perfectly copes with the challenges of external influence, unlike most others.

Application versatility

Walls, floors, and floor structures. When installing roofs and attics, heat-insulating foam concrete provides reliable thermal protection and doesn't have problems with the dew point. Roof insulation with foam concrete instead of mineral wool boards has already gained popularity in Russia. The use of expanded clay, for example, requires relatively high costs for transportation, lifting, and laying, not to mention an increase in the load on the roof. To reduce the above costs, short-lived, low-quality mineral wool boards are often used, and the only criteria for their choice are the price and the theoretical coefficient of thermal conductivity. And practice shows that in conditions such as, for example, wet weather and real work on construction sites, moisture saturation of these plates occurs, for which an increase in humidity of 3–5% leads to a 50% loss of thermal protection. The trouble with constructions using mineral wool is also problems with dew point and moisture condensation. Attic rooms and technical floors are often subject to getting wet, which, in the absence of heating, requires moisture resistance and frost resistance from the insulation. Mineral wool or expanded clay, when wet, loses its thermal insulation properties; that is, it ceases to function as insulation. Alternate freezing-thawing leads to the rapid destruction of such insulation.

Foam concrete for insulation has low water absorption and retains its insulating properties even in the event of a leak. Such material will last for many years and will not lose its qualities.

Heat-insulation properties

Not inferior to classic insulation (mineral wool or expanded clay).

Comfortable microclimate

Vapor permeability has the ability to "breathe", due to which a favorable microclimate is formed in the room (like wooden houses).

Cost of the material

Lower than for classic insulation.

Moisture resistance

The minimum water consumption is up to 15%, unlike other heaters (mineral wool up to 80%, expanded clay up to 90%).

Environmental friendliness

The material does not contain harmful substances.

High speed of work execution

Pouring is carried out by the equipment directly on the construction site by supplying the solution to the required location. High productivity and automation of the supply of insulating foam concrete can significantly increase the speed of work and reduce the number of workers involved in this work.

Solidity

Foam concrete is laid in a uniform continuous layer, without any seams or gaps, and can be poured in hard-to-reach places due to its fluidity, excluding the occurrence of any cavities or openings where it is not possible to lay classic insulation, which, as a rule, forms either seams during laying or cavities, which does not allow to comply with the condition.

Biostability and environmental safety

Foam concrete is not subject to rotting and aging. The environmental friendliness of the raw materials used guarantees the complete safety of foam concrete products for humans.

Minimum shrinkage

Foam concrete for insulation practically does not shrink (up to 1-2 mm), which, compared with mineral wool and its analogues, has an undeniable advantage.

Durability

In terms of durability, the material is not inferior to concrete; in terms of weight, it is similar to foam.

Characteristics of the production of works on insulation with foam concrete

In order to create a mixture at the place of work, equipment designed and manufactured in Russia is used. The unit is installed in such a way that the finished mixture enters the cavities that are obviously prepared for pouring. Work on the creation of a thermal barrier from foam concrete is no more difficult than installation with mineral insulation, and the cost of materials and work is lower.
